THIS RESTAURANT IS CLOSED Mirch Masala Restaurant Review: Mirch Masala uses Halal meat in deference to Indian religious requirements and vegetarian dishes are cooked separately. This neighborhood establishment has two large dining areas: the one close to the bar may be booked for parties, and at those times, the other is reserved for regular patrons. Buffets are a wicked good deal, at $7.95 for lunch during the week, and $8.95 on weekends. Dinner costs just $8.95 at lunch and $9.95 at dinner. The most expensive item costs only $11.95, and that's for a whole tandoori-cooked chicken. We like the shrimp dishes, especially shrimp Maharaja, served with aromatic basmati rice. Excellent curried catfish on rice is delectable, and just spiced enough at mild-medium. Customize hotness levels to suit your taste. Indian beers are served, and they're to be preferred to the mediocre wines chosen that don't accompany this food. How about some Gewürztraminer? Also located at 1713 Church St., Decatur, 404-296-9999.
