MistralKitchen Restaurant Review

: Deciding what to order can be difficult at chef William Belickis' multi-tasking establishment. Offering a bar scene, plain old dinner and a restaurant-within-a-restaurant fine dining spot, happy hour-goers, date-night couples and celebratory groups will all find their niche. Although a casual, less expensive à la carte menu is available in the lounge-like main dining and bar area, the best way to take in the complete MistralKitchen “experience” is with a tasting menu in the Jewel Box dining room or at the exclusive chef's table. Ranging from $60-$190 per person, the former is an investment. Plan to spend several hours and be surprised by Belickis' clever creations. At the chef's table ($250), you will be presented with a list of the evening's ingredients, then you may discuss your food fantasies. A meal may start off with Kumamoto, Kusshi and Shigoku oysters, followed by a salad course of burrata, baby arugula, figs and saba. Main course choices may include Alaskan halibut with squash, corn and piquillo peppers or breast of moulard duck with lentils du Puy, radish and pea vines. Meanwhile, cilantro syrup may bring an unexpected note to a dessert of coconut pudding, pineapple and passion fruit foam. Service is casual but professional. MistralKitchen's wine list has a global focus, differentiating it from most of Seattle's high-end restaurants, which tend to focus on local wines.
