Sometimes gruff and unfriendly, the staff are the least of the reasons you come to this budget-priced place, where the Tex-Mex fare is the real draw. The scene is set by the strains of Mexican music that filter out from somewhere and the color food photos on the wall. Start with their queso fundido, accompanied by a mug of hot Mexican chocolate, then opt for the Mexican submarine sandwiches served on French bread or one of the hearty platos of typical food such as the chiles rellenos, the burrito norteño and the chicken mole. Otherwise, the menu holds few temptations, although you can eat yourself silly here and still keep a pocketful of change.
