THIS RESTAURANT IS CLOSED Mojo Restaurant Review:
Mojo (which is pronounced moHO and not the way it was immortalized in the Austin Powers films) is the ultimate in trendy, minimalist chic, yet this stark environment also breeds vibrancy and fun. Perhaps the spicy dishes add some of the spark. While the original marquee-name chefs have departed, menus remain mixtures of Florida-Latino and California-Latino, which means elements of Cuban, Mexican and other cuisines meet, mingle and coexist well. Dont miss the tasty shrimp cocktail that includes big shrimp and rich, chunky salsa and is served like a seafood parfait. Crispy whole fish rellena is filled with sweet crab and comes with a coconut-lime sauce. Chicken rostizado is a spicy affair flanked by green pistachio mole and Spanish rice. For dessert, strawberry tres leches features caramelized bananas and dulce de leche crêpes are caramel filled and accompanied by blood orange citrus salsa. An extensive collection of tequilas and some interesting specialty drinks make the bar a happening all by itself. The restaurant often seems full of visiting East Coast movers and shakers and a sprinkling of celebrities (we took note of Dustin Hoffman). Whether stars like Hoffman are joining in the chorus or not, the place is loud, hip, a bit pricey and definitely spicy.
