Gabino Sotelino's Mon Ami Gabi borrows the name and style of the Chicago eatery that's a key link in Richard Melman's innovative Lettuce Entertain You chain. We like the authentic European bistro look, and outdoor dining overlooking the Strip. What to eat? Everything from quiche, crêpes, omelets and the croque monsieur for lunch and the à la carte weekend brunch (the hamburger Roquefort au poivre is also a lunch favorite) to seafood to steak---and anything that's served with crisp, skinny french fries. Served for lunch and dinner are steamed Manila clams and a mixed green salad with Belgian endive, roasted pear, Maytag blue cheese, walnuts and balsamic dressing. Among other dinner appetizers is escargot de Bourgogne. The Chilean sea bass en papillote and the salmon tournedos are first-rate. So are the steak Roquefort and the desserts---we especially like the pecan-chocolate tart and the vanilla bread pudding. The extensive wine list nicely complements the cuisine.
