Mona's Bistro & Lounge Restaurant Review: A casual, romantic atmosphere and well-prepared Mediterranean-inspired cuisine are complemented by live jazz at this neighborhood favorite. A velvet curtain separates the attractive lounge with its mahogany bar from the green-stippled, votive-lit dining room. Small plates are a specialty and range from baked Brie topped with apples and a balsamic reduction to lamb sliders with harissa aïoli. Pizza, pasta specials and salads, such as arugula with roasted red peppers, pistachios, Humboldt Fog cheese, truffle honey and sweet onion vinaigrette, provide light supper choices. The dinner menu includes a flat-iron steak with roasted rosemary potatoes, prawn and pesto linguine, and braised pork shoulder with pancetta-sautéed Brussels sprouts. The wine list is as eclectic and affordable as the menu. Enjoy fruity clafoutis or panna cotta for dessert. Service is friendly and knowledgeable. Happy hour, offered daily from 5 p.m.-7 p.m., features bites such as a goat cheese pizzetta. |
