Mondo’s Delite Restaurant Review:
Chef-owner Chris Orlando cruises with hearty Italian cuisine in this cozy, strip-mall restaurant. Classic lunch fare comes in the form of chicken, meatball or eggplant Parmesan subs or a sausage, pepper and onion sandwich on a hoagie roll. Salads may be ordered in half-sizes and pasta dishes are small plates as well. For an appetizer, consider the inventive prosciutto-wrapped artichoke hearts stuffed with goat cheese drizzled with balsamic vinegar or a baked portobello mushroom filled with peppers, caramelized onions and crab meat and topped with marinara sauce. Combined with a salad, it makes a satisfying meal. The classic Italian dishes are here, either with tomato-based or cream sauces. Specialty pasta dishes include a chicken Gorgonzola with a cream sauce laced with garlic and walnuts. Dense, chewy, house-made focaccia is served thinly sliced, with olive oil. Daily specials almost always consist of a fresh fish and a beef selection. The small but thoughtfully selected wine list is paired to the establishment's cuisine, with good prices a part of the bargain.
