Come for the green chile cheeseburgers---and stay for the blue-corn chicken enchiladas.

In 1962, Monroe's began serving its green chile cheeseburgers at a humble location on Lomas between downtown and Old Town---and they soon caught on. Today, they’re as good as ever---but the chicken enchiladas made with blue-corn tortillas and topped with green chile may be even better. Monroe’s is also known for its salsa, which is spicy, thick, chip-sticking and well worth the small surcharge. Desserts aren’t special, but the pineapple shakes and, of course, hot sopaipillas with honey are. Meanwhile, the friendly, capable servers always make you feel right at home, from the moment the joint opens for breakfast---featuring hash-brown-and-egg-stuffed burritos---to the last margarita call.
