Montage is a splendid addition to the fine-dining scene in the western suburbs. The contemporary American menu hits a lot more sweet spots than it does sour notes, so you should experience this place when you have a chance. Chef-owner Sean Roe (a disciple of the holy Emeril) knows how to finesse flavor without going over the top. Pay particular attention to the daily specials list for dishes that are, well, special. Three we recommend: Maine lobster spring rolls to start, roast salmon with wild rice and woodsy mushrooms, warm pear and pecan crisp with vanilla ice cream to finish. The lunch menu is as ambitious as the dinner menu (and about half the price), so Montage is making a bold statement in this part of Naperville. Tables in the main dining room are tight, so shoot for one of the banquettes or the small wine room. The wine list is ambitious and fairly priced with an excellent selection of half bottles.
