Located on the Oceanside harbor, Monterey Bay Canners serves very good fresh fish at a decent value. Guests can enjoy the view of the marina while sampling starters like Blue Point oysters on the half shell, lobster quesadillas with avocado-cilantro salsa or seared ahi with green papaya slaw and crispy rice noodles. Seafood specials change almost daily, and each option is listed with a suggested wine pairing. Choose a side from potatoes, slaw, fries or rice. We particularly enjoyed the tangy and tender pesto escolar. The “fisherman’s choice” is a favorite, as you can choose any two fish to create your own combo. Select from beer-battered halibut, shrimp scampi, swordfish and several others. Pastas and steaks round out the menu, while lunch also offers sandwiches and wraps. Look out for happy hour specials from 4 p.m.-7 p.m., with great deals on tacos, potato skins, pizza and more.
