THIS RESTAURANT IS CLOSED Monti's La Casa Vieja Restaurant Review:
The historic adobe "casa" that houses Monti's was built in 1873, and through the years, rooms have been added on until the place is a virtual Disney’s Haunted Mansion of strange corners, dead-end hallways and singular spaces that may be part dining room, bus station and-or kitchen. The menu is as old-as-the-hills, too, with the signature retro Roman bread, often-wilted iceberg salad and cafeteria-style steamed veggies and baked potato in foil served alongside the steaks, fish and chicken (or trade that tater for french fries, cottage cheese, spaghetti, mashed potatoes or rice). Yet there's no denying the place's popularity, for its incredibly low prices (a full steak dinner can be had for less than $10), bizarre charm, and familiar comfort touches like butter pats in foil, great dollops of steak sauce, and sprigs of parsley scattered about like confetti.
