Morton's The Steakhouse Restaurant Review: At this Palm Desert location of the nationwide steakhouse chain, the steaks are the same aged Prime you’ll find elsewhere, complete with tableside presentation. When you dine at Morton's what you get is consistency, good cuts of beef, and very little in the way of surprises. Of course, the meat is the main attraction, but it has a supporting cast of seafood. Start with a jumbo lump crab cocktail, the crab cake or the broiled sea scallops wrapped in bacon. Soufflés must be ordered in advance; while chocolate is a favorite, there’s also Grand Marnier and raspberry or lemon options for a lighter touch. The bar can be fun, and a bargain, when you belly up Sunday through Friday from opening until 6:30 p.m., and again after 9 p.m. until closing. An array of small plates will run you about $7 each, with select beer, wine and cocktails ranging from $5.50 to $8.
