Dining at Moxy is a chance to taste his talent firsthand and unadulterated, in a setting where everything from the décor to the menu descriptions come off as streamlined and elegant. The small bar has just enough regulars that it feels like a neighborhood spot, and the upstairs lounge is frequently booked with DJs or private parties. But make no mistake, the food is the thing. While there's a fine herb-roasted chicken for those in need of a comfort food fill-up, Brenner is plenty happy to turn out items like duck in a cherry-port sauce or lobster pot stickers. His desserts are particularly appealing, from his blueberry-rich take on gooey butter cake (a local favorite) to a classic sticky toffee pudding with butterscotch.
