THIS RESTAURANT IS CLOSED MPD Restaurant Review:

MPD (or Mon Petit Dejeuner) is often crammed with scenesters and a few tourists looking to take a break from the nearby Highline. But food lovers should not overlook this trendy spot. The black-and-white color scheme, dark wood and minimalist but stylish décor has an haute couture feel, while the contemporary French menu features appealing starters like the substantial pork belly confit done in the traditional style, and a crab cake with a crispy baked outer shell. Entrées worth a taste include tender, buttery scallops over risotto; and hearty short ribs --- though the flavors can border on overpowering, they’re tempered by a combination of root vegetables in the stew. Round off the meal with a sweet and slightly tart cranberry crumble cobbler. Complement the meal with a bottle of full-bodied Chevaliers d’Aymon French Bordeaux, Médoc; those opting for a white wine might consider the dry, crisp Sancerre from Château de Sancerre, Loire.
