Mr. Ed's Oyster Bar & Fish House Restaurant Review:

Although St. Charles Avenue stretches the length of the city, it is home to surprisingly few seafood restaurants. Enter Mr. Ed's, a name that is familiar to locals, as it has endured several incarnations. This one is part of the Maison St. Charles Hotel. With multiple dining rooms largely open to one another and a muted grey interior with lots of primary color and New Orleans paintings adorning the walls, this is a pleasant, family-friendly place with moderate prices and local seafood preparations. Crispy soft-shell crabs are offered with a choice of six versions of lump crab meat sauce, while oysters are served in multiple ways --- try the charbroiled. Generously portioned seafood platters will call for a to-go box. For some diners, appetizers might even take the place of an entrée, especially when it comes to the fried green tomatoes with shrimp rémoulade. The dessert list could use a lift, but the peach cobbler is satisfying. Since the menu is seafood-focused, wines have been carefully selected to complement the dishes.
