THIS RESTAURANT IS CLOSED Mr. Smith's of Georgetown Restaurant Review:
Like its downtown cousin, the Mr. Smiths in the Virginia burbs celebrates the joys of really good, really casual pub food and burgers. Head in for lunch and watched as the bar folk hunker down over beer and burgers---and maybe a game of darts---before heading back to the office. Others will sedately fork through large salads and enjoy such fare as portions of the sweetish Jailhouse chili (also served over the Mexican burger), the barbeque platter of your choice of beef or pork, and a pasta of the day. Most folks order up the burgers, shaped like a roly-poly hot dog and served in a bun (very good), which may explain why, as the restaurant claims, it sells more than one ton of hamburger each month. But unlike its very popular DC location, the surburban restaurant does not sport a spiffy indoor-garden dining room, nor an atmosphere-filled bar which embraces a roomful of drop-ins wanting a midday (or midnight) fix. Dessert can expand your waistline, but we found that their best cheesecake, while dense and rich as expected, has better competition elsewhere. Also located at 3104 M Street Northwest, Washington, DC.
