 The Nuevo Latino restaurant from Lettuce Entertain You was on the forefront of a trend; years later, it remains on the culinary (and cocktail) cutting edge. The lusty menu is loaded with Latin favorites---flaky empanadas stuffed with smoked chicken or grilled chayote, shrimp adobado skewers---as well as innovative options, like ahi and watermelon ceviche with spicy red wine vinaigrette. From grilled skirt steak with fiery poblano sauce to chimichurri-crusted filet and blue nose grouper with tomatillo salsa, twists abound. But it’s the long list of Latin small plates, including boniato and plantain croquetas or barbecue lamb tacos, we gravitate toward. Feeling adventurous? Do not miss the culinary cocktails, which come courtesy of mixologist Adam Seger---they’re a good precursor to salsa dancing on Friday and Saturday nights.
