 The Nuevo Latino restaurant from Lettuce Entertain You was on the forefront of a hot culinary trend. Unfortunately, as time has gone by we've found the eatery forgets to put enough lusty liveliness into its food. Meat plays a big role in the makeup of this style of cuisine, and the grilled skirt steak with salsa cruda is quite good. The long list of Latin small-plates dishes offers a better, more interesting option, though. Go for boniato and plantain croquetas or barbecue lamb tacos. Feeling adventurous? Try the five-course chef’s tasting menu, a steal at $45, and a good precursor to salsa dancing on weekend nights.
