Napa & Company Restaurant Review: Channeling all the quiet elegance of California wine country, this Stamford spot combines an international wine list with a menu composed with local, organic and free-range ingredients. The restaurant is tastefully appointed, from its wine room to its dining area, with its sleek mahogany tables and crystal glasses. We suggest starting with a flight of French and Spanish rosés, or a glass of Napa & Company’s own sparkling wine. Pair them with one of the wine bites, such as duck and foie gras meatballs in a cinnamon port glaze served with fig jam. Meanwhile, fried Brussels sprouts are sprinkled with pork belly bits and Meyer lemon, and blistered shishito peppers get a drizzle of lime. Move on to entrées like a tender and lean Napa Wagyu hamburger topped with onion jam, aged Gouda and black pepper mayonnaise on a brioche roll complemented by rosemary-dusted french fries. It may be a hamburger but pair it with a glass of Marlborough, New Zealand 2010 Pinot Noir and you'll find the varietal brings out both the hearty flavors of the beef and the pungent aromas of the cheese. Or, try the black grouper with roasted asparagus and match it with a crisp South Africa 2012 Sauvignon Blanc.
