| Inspired by the art and architecture of Duke University’s art museum, the seasonally driven, inventive menus utilize the best of local produce. Dishes described as "tapas" are much more generously portioned than traditional Spanish tapas, so if one goes for the four-plates-for-$15 option, it should serve two. We like the bacalao cooked with potato and tomato, and a dish of roasted potatoes, cubed and mixed with chorizo and eggs. Sandwiches are filling, particularly the turkey panino with sauerkraut and the ham panino with Swiss cheese and tapenade. The spiced orange crème brûlée or the lemon cheesecake with fresh blackberry sauce (both sharable) should not be missed. A few well-chosen wines are available (and they are not expensive). What a lovely dining circumstance with either a window view of "In the Bushes," a monumental metal piece by Mark di Suvero, or at a table on the patio within gazing distance of the same work. |
