Nate 'n' Al's Restaurant Review: Forget having Sunday breakfast without a wait. Though bagel shops have sprouted up all around it, this legendary Beverly Hills deli---it’s been going strong for 65 years---more than holds its own. Despite a ho-hum, somewhat frayed-around-the-edges décor, Nate 'n' Al's attracts loyal customers, celebrities and New York émigrés in search of huge sandwiches, matzo ball soup, blintzes and smoked-fish plates, which are everything they should be and more. The bagels, baked by Brooklyn Bagel Company, are only so-so, but the cold cuts are tops. Most delis aren’t known for their burgers, but the third-pound Angus burgers here are popular, and entrées include everything from beef short ribs to chicken potpie. The bottom line: Nate 'n' Al’s is a classic Brooklyn-style deli, from ambience to food, with some Beverly Hills glamour thrown in for free, like some extra Russian dressing. Also located at 2200 E. Thousand Oaks Blvd., Thousand Oaks, 805-494-3354.
