| The three young sommelier-owners of this quaint gem set out to teach patrons the wonders of wine in a fun, laid-back manner. The ambience is as unpretentious as the attitude, providing an inviting space to relax after work and taste a myriad of interesting wines while people-gazing out the floor-to-ceiling windows facing the Marina's restaurant row. If art is more your thing, check out the changing installations displayed on the cream-colored candlelit walls. The menu of nibbles, bites and sweets runs the gamut from refreshing ahi a trĂ³is (ahi three ways) to heartier offerings such as a 72-hour Korean-spice marinated skirt steak. A not-to-miss dish is the vegetarian potpie, stuffed with seasonal vegetables such as Jerusalem artichokes, cauliflower and oyster mushrooms; peas and potatoes lend an element of tradition. Presentation is creative, too, with the golden crust puffed over the edges of a white coffee cup. Suggested nectars are listed below each item, or diners can peruse the 800 selection bottle list to find a nectar of their own. Flights have un-stodgy names like the bad-assed red flight, aptly described as hedonism in liquid format. |
