| With its intimate ambience and finely prepared cuisine, Nell’s distinguishes itself in the Greenlake neighborhood. Large windows and a raised central dining area offer glimpses of Green Lake and its perennial joggers just across the street. Butter yellow walls and comfortable banquettes create an elegant, inviting setting for savoring owner/chef Philip Mihalski’s five-course tasting menu, or the seasonally-inspired à la carte menu with small and large plates. Choose a sweet onion tart paired with Jerusalem artichoke chips and hazelnut butter to start, or roasted carrot and goat cheese ravioli. Entrées may include grilled ahi with turnips, grilled radicchio and ginger; tender calf’s liver with fingerling potatoes; or seared duck breast with tiny French lentils. The well-chosen wine list is fairly priced and offers a good selection of full and half bottles. For a finale, the pistachio cake with candied orange and Grand Marnier jus is a must. Service is gracious and professional. |
