 Ngam Restaurant Review: Sleek and charming with high ceilings and lots of exposed brick, this East Village restaurant is about as inviting as they come. Take a seat at the bar and watch the chefs at work or grab a table in the main dining room. Chef Hong Thaimee brings the flavors of her native Thailand and gets creative with them in the kitchen. For example, the hamburger is infused with lemon grass and topped with shredded papaya, and sided with standout pumpkin fries. Rather than just serve a straightforward massaman curry, Thaimee wraps it in pie crust and then tops it with a piece of roti bread. There are also spicy chicken wings and various noodle dishes, as well as plenty of Thai beer to cool the palate. |
