Nick's Manhattan Beach, Manhattan Beach, CA

Nick's Manhattan Beach Restaurant Review

: Nick's Manhattan Beach features a contemporary, stylish design with rich woods and warm brown tones. In the dining room there are booths as well as banquette seating opposite comfortable chairs. Diners can watch the chefs at work through the glassed-in kitchen. The bar is long with a few tables around it and a TV tuned into sports. There's also a covered patio open to the lively Metlox plaza. (At lunchtime, it's busy with families playing in the modern fountain.) You can't go wrong starting off with the very tasty kale and quinoa salad or the pan-seared California ahi with baby greens, shishito peppers, soy beans, mango, carrots, Japanese cucumber and cilantro Asian vinaigrette. Chunky, made-to-order quacamole and flavorful (but not too spicy) pico de gallo are among the accompaniments that come with the La Hacienda Taco Platter, which can ordered with grilled chicken, marinated rib-eye or blackened seabass. Other signature dishes include Asian chicken and noodle salad, prime rib dip sandwich, a classic cheeseburger and San Francisco cioppino. Tip: Be sure to order the warm butter cake when ordering your main courses. It's a generous portion that begs to be shared. Dishes come out of the kitchen a bit on the slow side, but we appreciate the warm and attentive service executed by a staff that works well together as a team. Nick's also has outposts in Laguna Beach, San Clemente and Long Beach.

Nick's Manhattan Beach is a Five Star Restaurant, read why

More upscale than the average chain restaurant, Nick's in the Metlox Town Center, serves American food. Burgers, salads and entrees of pork rib, steaks, fish and prime rib are a few of the selections available.
The décor is simple, yet elegant. The dim lighting offset by the maple wood decor and oversized lampshades well complemented the thick wooden tables and comfy booths. The use of booths, big and small, really promoted an intimate environment, where guests could not only be seated and lounge comfortably, but also enjoy some people watching in the town square.

My guest and I started our dining experience with the Grilled Artichoke (I saw these on almost every table while waiting and had to try it!). Having questions about a few items on the menu, I inquired with our server who provided well-versed answers, sharing her insight and experience. After hearing her personal suggestions and the nightly feature, I chose La Hacienda Taco Platter with Sea Bass with warm corn tortillas, sweet crunchy kale slaw, pico de gallo and made to order guacamole while my guest selected the BBQ pork Ribs (he couldn’t resist either).

Throughout the entire meal, our glasses were never empty. We were well attended to, and our server invited any request. She truly showed investment in our dining experience, answering our questions and accommodating our requests for condiments on the side, extra plates, etc.

The butter cake dessert is enough to make me want to shout for joy. I'm not going to spoil the fun, just trust me and order it. All said and done I have to say this is one very well run operation, quality on all levels is elevated to a refreshing new level. Better believe next time I'm in Orange County I will find one of the other related Nick's venues there.
