THIS RESTAURANT IS CLOSED O.T. Hodge Chile Parlor Restaurant Review:
On the edge of the Lafayette Square neighborhood and not far from Soulard, the old-fashioned chile parlor is alive and well, in a simple storefront, luring the cast-iron stomach with the Slinger, composed of two cheeseburger patties, American fries and an egg, all covered with chile. There's a menu to help with translations of Double Mac and One Straight (large spaghetti with chile and small chile without beans, respectively). Chile is the real thing, although not fiery hot. The Slinger is available for breakfast, reputedly a fine hangover cure. A quiet St. Louis legend, this isn't fabulous food, just decent, basic stuff that theme restaurants try to imitate.
