 Chef-owner Steven Oakley’s suburban jewel has become a destination restaurant for those seeking contemporary cooking in a chic, yet casual, environment. The menu is filled with whimsical dishes, like an appetizer of petite shrimp corn dogs, or comfort food that includes Oakley’s grandfather's barbecue-glazed meatloaf. And then there are dishes such as a parfait of shrimp, black bean hummus and artichoke spinach sauce. Meanwhile, the "pork & pork" includes a pork cheddar spring roll, and the "duck & duck" introduces the diner to duck fat cornbread with duck confit. On the other hand, a meatless entrée may be vegetable lasagna, mushroom potpie, a ratatouille cabbage roll or butternut soufflé. Desserts depend on the season, although the crème brûlée keeps its place as number one on the list. Knowledgeable servers do a dandy job helping to select wine and making the meal memorable and worth the drive.
