Oakleys Bistro Restaurant Review: Chef-owner Steven Oakley’s suburban gem has become a destination restaurant for those seeking contemporary cooking in a chic, yet casual, environment. The menu is filled with whimsical dishes, such as petite shrimp corn dogs or a crispy oyster lettuce wrap among the small plate starters. Medium plates feature sweet corn gnocchi with pork belly and a lobster, basil and roasted garlic waffle with zucchini and crispy leeks. Entrée-size portions include the ever-popular Stanley's meatloaf, plus items such as ruby trout with cauliflower purée and caper relish, and seven-layer vegetable and polenta lasagna. Additionally, you'll find a nice selection of wines and premium liquors, coupled with highly trained, knowledgeable servers. Do save room for dessert, as they are intriguing and fun. Cases in point: caramel corn with peanut butter ice cream that's made to order as well as dynamite lemon custard over rhubarb-ginger sorbet.
