Oakwood Cafe at the Market Restaurant Review

: Spreading out from his family’s Dalton, Georgia, restaurant of the same name, Kasey Carpenter brought the concept to the State Farmers Market. The market's vegetable largesse allows the café to serve fresh produce year-round. Family and employees’ recipes yield such mainstays as pot roast and chicken salad. Classic cornmeal-crusted fried green tomatoes are in high demand, and are offered daily. From the restaurant's smokers come hams, turkeys, ribs and chicken. The winner, we think, is the tender, juicy smoked pork loin. For dessert, we suggest the banana pudding. No alcohol is served. Waitresses address patrons in what may seem to be familiar terms, such as “Honey,” "Baby" and “Sugar,“ but the form is to make people feel welcome. Tourists zooming through Georgia on I-75 should make a point of stopping for a real feast.
