This restaurant on the third level of Jack's La Jolla offers a different vibe from the other two floors: it's not fine dining like on level two, and not as casual as level one. But what you do get is the view; ask for a booth facing the ocean. The menu is straightforward: raw bar selections, classic salads, sushi, grilled steaks, seafood, and the lone chicken breast. Each entrée comes with an assortment of sauces, including steak sauce, béarnaise, red wine reduction, soy caramel jus, mustard miso and ginger-sesame-soy. It’s great fun to dip and sample these full-bodied accoutrements. Side orders are large and shareable---we like the blue cheese bread pudding, with bacon, chilies and heirloom tomatoes. There is Valrhona chocolate cake on the dessert menu, but we prefer the brioche french toast topped with warm seasonal fruit (try the blueberries and the tropical medley).
