Okura Robata Grill & Sushi Bar Restaurant Review: Okura Robata Grill & Sushi Bar offers a menu that marries Japanese and California cuisines, while the contemporary setting has overtones that speak to the food’s origins. Traditional sushi and innovative fusion dishes give the place its wide-ranging appeal. Try the palate-awakening Serrano hamachi carpaccio and the tobanyaki rib-eye with saké, soy and yuzu, made in a toban and brought to the table to complete its cooking. Crowd-pleasers are the crispy tuna and the "dynamite" mussels with spicy cream sauce. There are numerous sakés as well as a decent wine selection. The ambience is elegant and the bar scene buzzing --- not surprising, considering the range of martinis available. We particularly like the ginger Cosmo, especially during happy hour, held daily from 4:30 p.m.-6:30 p.m., when drink specials start at $4.95 and small plates at $3.95.
