It may not have much imagination or a friendly attitude, but you can count on the vegetarian dishes at this laid-back eatery. Good bets are the pizzas.

THIS RESTAURANT IS CLOSED Old Dog New Trick Cafe Restaurant Review

: A very laid-back eatery in the Faubourg Marigny's restaurant and nightclub district, Old Dog New Trick sometimes acquits itself fairly well as a handy vegetarian spot. Good bets are the pizzas, with polenta or flatbread crusts, hearty split-pea and white-bean soups and a sizeable list of veggie burgers (combining lentils, millet, sunflower seeds and brown rice). The burgers' spreads and sauces include barbecue, canola-oil mayonnaise and a ginger-peanut butter. Aside from a good strawberry layer cake with maple syrup and cherry cider icing, don't look for an excess of imagination---or, for that matter, a friendly attitude. And don't be surprised if you arrive before closing time to find the place shuttered.
