This is one vegetarian restaurant that doesn't approach meatless cooking with a zealot's attitude. Fresh, pure ingredients and imagination are the forces that drive Old Dog New Trick. Each day's menu features any one of several different black-bean soups, each reliably tasty. The Ben Burger, named for the pet terrier who's the restaurant's namesake, proves that a soya-based sandwich doesn't have to lack panache. An occasional curry appears on the specials board to augment the tempeh and bean-curd fare. One of the sidewalk tables is a great spot to enjoy a balmy day, especially with coffee and one of the kitchen's orange-pecan biscotti or a slice of bourbon-praline cake.
