Old Shanghai Cafe Restaurant Restaurant Review

: Although management has established a Chinese/Japanese menu, it seems that the kitchen doesn’t really do a good job with either. We started off with a bang, picking a sampling of both cuisines. Alas, the Chinese appetizer dumplings were leathery and the sesame chicken bland. The Szechuan noodles were forgettable, as was the sweet, mild orange chicken. We found that the sushi rated better, although such offerings as the soft-shell crab roll are unwieldy for chopsticks. Note that vegetarians can get a sushi fix, since the kitchen offers meatless Chinese dishes and a vegetarian sushi roll combo. While many of the dishes sound predictable, the kitchen does include such unusual offerings as Three Cup Chicken and several soup noodle dishes you may not find elsewhere. The setting here is contemporary, so if you seek Asian atmosphere, you might look elsewhere.
