THIS RESTAURANT IS CLOSED Old Town Social Restaurant Review:

Looks can be deceiving. Take, for example, this place, where its plethora of flat-screens, high-top tables and a young baseball-hat-wearing crowd lead you to believe it’s a typical sports bar (albeit one with some cool décor touches, like hand-blown glass fixtures, carved-wood fireplace and a parlor-like room filled with antique furnishings). But chef Jared Van Camp puts his Blackbird and Osteria di Tramonto experience to good use with a varied selection of made-in-house charcuterie and smoked meats that are nice on their own. But be sure to order some spicy chickpeas or roasted Brussels sprouts with pancetta, too. The laidback, casual feel of the space lends itself well to the made-to-be-shared plates. Our favorites? The lamb sausage and roasted tomato flatbread, duck wings with harissa and cucumber-mint raita, and mini hot dogs available Chicago-style, with chili or even as corn dogs. There’s a creative cocktail menu, too; however, it’s the beer list, including 18 on draft, that holds our attention. While you’re here, be sure to pick up extras from Old Town’s adjunct butcher shop.
