Olde Blind Dog Irish Pub Restaurant Review: At this stylish re-creation of an Irish pub, a large space becomes more intimate with the use of small enclaves for privacy while groups may gather at the bar. Faux street scenes imitating shop storefronts break up the cluster of assembled alcoves that shelter two- and four-top tables. The menu asserts that the clam chowder (Celtic clam chowder at that) is authentically Irish; alternatively, there’s very good French onion soup made with Guinness. We like the Irish stew and the mashed potato-topped shepherd's pie, both made with lamb. Curried chicken with vegetables composes a first-rate main plate for lunch, and reflects accurately what often is found in pubs in Ireland. Bangers and mash, Scotch eggs (served warm, though, unfortunately), Irish breakfast (add some black-and-white pudding if you wish) and fish ‘n’ chips are among the more Irish dishes. There's corned beef and cabbage, too. Sticky toffee pudding for dessert extends the theme, or try the cheesecake. Beers (mostly American) are the dominant quaff, but wine, mostly familiar brands, is available. Also located at 12650 Crabapple Rd., Milton, 678-624-1092.
