THIS RESTAURANT IS CLOSED Ole Madrid Restaurant Review:

THIS ESTABLISHMENT IS CLOSED Ole Madrid is a funky nightclub-cum-tapas bar housed in a turn-of-the-century historic Gaslamp building that is about as far away from Spain as possible. But that didn’t stop the owners from transforming the inner tri-level space into a Gaudi-inspired wonderland of twisted metal, winding staircases and rounded ceilings. Chef David Mango’s Spanish menu was the first to introduce tapas to the area and still does well by the classics like spicy garlic prawns, sherry-sautéed mushrooms and tortilla española. It’s most fun (and traditional) to make a meal of the small things, but for entrée lovers the Catalan-style paella is a good choice. Why items such as spring rolls, portobello chicken linguine and a blue cheese hamburger have joined the menu is a mystery, but this is tourist territory and we suspect that is the reason. Stick to the Spanish selections, the sangría and the crème Catalan, then head downstairs to burn it all off by dancing the night away to the techno-house music spun by local DJs.
