| This establishment from restaurateur Sam Fox (The Greene House, Bloom, NoRTH, Sauce and The Counter) is a bustling Mediterranean neighborhood market, casual café and sit-down restaurant all in one. There’s also a bakery, wine center, coffee bar and gelateria. That means we can start the day with blueberry french toast slathered in whipped crème fraîche, then come back for a lunch of prosciutto-manchego flatbread, curry chicken salad or braised short rib sandwich. Dinner might be diver scallops with hazelnut brown butter, chicken and dumplings, or roasted duck breast with stewed lentils, sweet pork hash and orange-carrot reduction. But be wary: With so much going on, the cooking is hit-or-miss, and sometimes surprisingly dull. Many folks are here more for fashionable people-watching than fine dining, though, and there’s no denying the vibe is completely delicious. |
