| From the team behind the Hotel Utah, this sleek bar stands out in an otherwise downscale neighborhood. The blonde-wood paneled entryway and modern signage lead patrons to a plethora of eye-catching paintings that line the tall walls of the high-ceilinged, narrow room. Young professionals sip signature dirty martinis, watermelon martinis and, for dessert, chocolate martinis. Those not comfortable with the sloshy martini glass can order pint glasses of mojitos laden with fresh mint leaves. Two booths anchor the front of the room while bar-high tables recede down one side. The lengthy bar boasts comfortable chairs with backs and bartenders who know their drinks. The menu is more like a snack list on steroids and includes thin-crust pizzas like barbecue chicken or prawn and small plates like ahi tuna wontons, crispy calamari with a zesty aïoli and wild mushroom and goat cheese crostini. Don't plan on a quiet evening for two---Olive and its menu are best shared by a group. |
