Onlywood Pizzeria Trattoria Restaurant Review: Owned by a pair of longtime friends from Besnate, Italy (near Lake Como), Onlywood Pizzeria Trattoria brings 15 years of Italian cooking experience to Key West, including an actual certificate from Naples in the art of pizza-making. The duo also brought their own two-ton wood-fired oven made of bricks and stones from Mount Vesuvius, which can reach temperatures up to 1,000 degrees. Burning red oak wood to maintain proper pizza-baking temperatures, the resulting pies have a thin (fluffy, yet crisp) crust, homemade mozzarella, San Marzano tomato sauce and nicely fired toppings melded together to create one of life’s great pleasures. With over 15 artisanal pies from which to choose, take your pick amongst a traditional margherita to those finished with meats and vegetables including sweet Italian sausage, prosciutto di Parma, baby artichoke hearts, black olives, arugula and more. Start your meal with a fresh salad or antipasti selection. And while the pizzas are hard to pass up, the pasta dishes are not to be overlooked.
