Sage on the Coast is changing hands, as Sage's beloved chef Rich Mead is leaving this cheery seaside space in Crystal Cove, which is reopening in June as Avalon Grill. Canyon will be an organic and friendly spot, so says Mead, for North OCers to hang in the bar or in the casual main dining room for his delectable contemporary American cuisine. Chef Mead's original Sage restaurant in Newport Beach's Eastbluff Shopping Center remains open. Sage on the Coast, 2531 Eastbluff Dr., Newport Beach, CA 92660, no phone.
