THIS RESTAURANT IS CLOSED Ortlieb’s Jazzhaus Restaurant Review:

Ortlieb’s is a jazz-lover’s paradise, the kind of place that musicians flock to, especially on Sunday and Tuesday nights when a sign-up sheet gives everybody a shot at playing with the house band. There’s nothing fancy in the way of décor---think smoke-stained walls, black-and-white photos and a well-worn bandstand. Surprisingly, the food is better than expected, from the flash-fried catfish sandwich with a tasty rémoulade (too bad about the limp fries) to the zesty jambalaya chock full of andouille sausage and chicken. Entrées, named for local players, include Bootsie’s baby-back ribs and Jimmy Oliver’s rockin’ rock shrimp. Good beer on tap, but skip the (cheap) wine by the glass (that may be served warm). Service is delivered efficiently, and with a smile.
