| THIS RESTAURANT IS NOW CALLED BLU BISTRO. Osaka livens up one of the more sleepy University Heights blocks with its elegant Japanese entrées and sushi bar. If the dining room is full, a limited menu from the kitchen can be ordered in the adjacent Blu Room. Like the main restaurant, it features Japanese beer, wine, filtered and unfiltered sakés, and cocktails, along with frequent jazz, lounge and DJ acts. Appetizers include delicious tempura battered cubes of tofu, wasabi-infused pork dumplings, and Hawaiian salmon served with coconut-mango-pineapple chutney and purple ginger rice. Traditional items from the sushi bar are excellent, including the often-available fatty tuna. Other entrées include udon noodle and teriyaki dishes, saké clams, the addictive salmon-mango roll, and Osaka New York strip served with a selection of Asian vegetables in a garlic-teriyaki demi-glace. Or try a bento box meal made with a choice of teriyaki beef, salmon or chicken. |
