Oysters is one of Corona del Mar’s most refined yet down-to-earth neighborhood restaurants. Located almost at MacArthur Boulevard’s end at the junction with Pacific Coast Highway, it is a sophisticated haven for those who like to hang out in its jazzy lounge or inside the main dining room with its stylized art, warm woods and white tablecloths. The service here definitely seeks to please, so you always feel like it was worth spending the time and money on a night out. It’s a good idea to start in the fashionable bar where you can get house-made and hand-shaken cocktails while listening to good live jazz, a rarity in OC. Started more as a seafood restaurant, Oysters these days offers a wide range of dishes, from the more refined (pan-roasted sea bass with daikon purée and black truffle butter) to bistro food (seafood gumbo) to pan-Asian (hamachi tartare Napoleon) to American classics (a basic hamburger with American cheese).
