Ozzie's Corner Italian Restaurant Review

: Part of the Great American Restaurants group---which also includes Sweetwater Tavern and Reston’s Jackson’s Mighty Fine Food & Lucky Lounge---Ozzie’s ushers in the Italian focus of this otherwise all-American collection, and you will be delighted to sample what the chef has whipped up. Your waitstaff will go through the menu with you, and explain the day’s specials, a great help for first-timers. Be sure to include some appetizers, such as the arancini (fried risotto balls) filled with Italian sausage and Fontina; these plus a salad would equal lunch or dinner. As for entrées, the pappardelle with wild boar ragù and the “crazy” lasagna (a deconstructed dish with meatballs, cheese and tomato sauce in an nontraditional serving) are big winners here. The dessert list is short, but does feature the very unusual prunes in red wine with mascarpone and candied pecans. The wine list contains a respectable number of Italian imports, including dessert wines, plus several from the West Coast. It’s all-Italian here, including the setting with dark woods, dated photos, and a wall-size mirror that focuses on the dining room.
