Pacci Italian Kitchen + Bar, Savannah, GA

Pacci Italian Kitchen + Bar Restaurant Review

: Adapting authentic Italian flavors to American dining preferences, Roberto Leoci, reared in Montréal, staked out his future in Savannah, Georgia. While The Brice hotel was being renovated, the crew enjoyed his food so much that those in power decided Leoci should put his stamp on the hotel's dining. However, he is now on the road to the Big Apple, leaving his own restaurant closed and this one relying on the staff he trained in the kitchen. We're confident they will cook well through any transition. All pastas are made in house, and toppings may easily be adapted for vegetarian purposes. Just leave out the guanciale on the gnocchi, for instance, although the ditalini already are meat-free. Coca-Cola-glazed short ribs may start off Southern, but the forest mushroom risotto accompanying them brings the Italian note right back front and center. Seafood Mediterranean uses local fish with capellini and capers in a white wine sauce. For dessert, check out the house-made sorbet; we like the lemon, light and soothing. With its blend of Italian and California standards, the wine list isn‘t exciting, but you’ll find something acceptable by the glass for most dishes. When you're done exploring Savannah’s historic district, return to the restaurant for some fine happy hour sips and bites in either early evening or late night.
