Pai Northern Thai Kitchen Restaurant Review:

Pai Northern Thai Kitchen is the latest restaurant by Nuit and Jeff Regular, and arguably, the best. It books up fast, so be sure to set your reservation a minimum of two weeks in advance. Décor is simple and cozy, with wooden tables and brick walls. On a bustling night, guests line the bar counter and all of the tables are full. Start with a refreshing Thai iced tea with condensed milk, sweetened and poured over crushed ice. There is an admirable list of cocktails and Thai beer to choose from as well. The grabong (squash fritters) are crispy nests of thinly sliced squash, served with a sweet, spicy, cilantro-strewn tamarind dipping sauce. Khao soi, one of Pai’s few Northern Thai dishes, is rich, sweet and herbaceous, prepared with your chosen level of heat. It’s laden with egg noodles and fall-apart braised beef, making it a truly satisfying meal. Equally good is the braised beef massaman curry, which contains a peanut and tamarind curry broth and potatoes. Desserts change daily, but might include an egg custard or Pai’s signature mango sticky rice.
