THIS RESTAURANT IS CLOSED Palatino Restaurant Review:
A simple, northern Italian menu and a warmly lit dining room explain the draw of this Bernal Heights newcomer. A mostly local crowd fills the square room decorated with funky paintings and deep red walls. Gnocchi, pillow-light and cloaked in a heavenly, rich tomato sauce, satisfies like any comfort food would. The succulent braised rabbit with salty pancetta will surely create devotees. Some misses, like the overly drenched salad or the dry chicken livers that overpower a pile of pasta, are hard to overcome. For dessert try the traditional tiramisu or the house-made sorbetti.
