Palmetto Cafe Restaurant Review: The elegant Palmetto Café offers one of the most notable breakfasts in town, and lunch is equally fine. Eggs Charleston Place balances a slab of tender smoked pork loin and tangy seared tomatoes over cornbread with a crawfish hollandaise. Specialty coffees---you can choose which level of roast you would like in your French press---offer a note of luxury to a meal to which you should devote a good portion of your morning. Don't pass up the side dishes either. The cheese grits and fried potatoes are creamy and crispy, and have no problem meeting the bar set by some of the more elegant dishes. Lunch may include a poured-at-the-table lobster bisque, a satisfying array of sandwiches and fish-heavy entrées, and peach iced tea served with a tiny pitcher of simple syrup for sweetening. Only one note of warning: the Sunday brunch does not begin to measure up to the elegance of lunch and breakfast. Otherwise, any daytime special occasion would be a fine reason to visit Charleston Grill's little sister. |
