| An old-fashioned diner has been spruced up with linen-topped tables, track lighting and a bit of Thai art by some caring and ambitious owners, who have also installed a small granite-topped sushi bar that turns out a surprisingly respectable product. The Thai and Chinese specialties are attractively presented and generously portioned, although not particularly memorable. But Panang offers a pleasant experience, backed by a 150-item menu ranging from mee krob to whole deep-fried catfish to curries to kung pao chicken. In addition to sushi, other Japanese specialties include teriyaki salmon, gyoza and soft-shell crab. |
