: Interesting antiques and murals create a festive ambience at Pancho’s, the South Bay's oldest Mexican restaurant. (The building has quite a history --- it has been a nightclub, gambling den and brothel, and has hosted movie stars since the 1920s.) The multi-level dining room is a popular spot for celebrations, while the loud bar area plays host to live music, comedy and karaoke throughout the week. A margarita and chips and guacamole are de rigueur to start. Among the specialties are “Camarones a la Diabla” (sautéed shrimp simmered in Diablo sauce with roasted Guajillo chiles and herbs) and “Pollo al Pipian” (chicken cooked in a Pipian sauce of roasted pumpkin seeds, garlic, cumin and other spices). Quesadillas, tostadas, enchiladas, burritos, chimichangas, tacos and desserts like flan round out the lengthy menu.
