 The curved wall-to-wall picture window framing a dazzling view of the Strip is the first impression this restaurant offers guests. Next comes the display of 3,000 bottles of wine in glass-enclosed black cylinders just inside the entrance. The custom-crafted red travertine walls, stone floors and sparkling glass tiles were imported from Italy. The wine list boasts 250 labels, 32 also offered by the glass. Guests vie to sit at the 12-seat chef’s table facing the open kitchen. Among tasty antipasti, we like the grilled marinated eggplant with goat cheese, olives and sun-dried tomatoes and the seasonal melons wrapped with prosciutto. Beef carpaccio with arugula, baby artichokes, celery and shaved Parmigiano is a winner. Imaginative pizzas are prepared in a wood-fired oven. Among pastas, we like malfatti al funghi---homemade ricotta-and-spinach ravioli in a creamy wild mushroom sauce. Braised osso buco arrives on a bed of saffron risotto. The cannoli filled with sweetened ricotta cheese and topped with chocolate chips are worth the splurge, as are tiramisu and the chocolate mousse with crème brûlée.
